Tarenna verticillata is an endemic shrub from New Caledonia. It is mainly distributed in the north east of Grande Terre, from Canala to Monéo, but also on two massifs in the northwest (Koniambo and Kopéto). This species occurs in humid forest and shrubland on ultramafic substrate from 250 and 800 m asl. The main identified threats come from mining activities and bushfire events that contribute to the decline of its habitat. Its Area of Occupancy (AOO) and Extent of Occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to be 116 and 2,047 km², Tarenna verticillata is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(i,ii,iii,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,v) with an estimated decline of all the concerned subcriteria and a number of locations above 10.
