Pleioluma longipetiolata is an endemic shrub or tree of New Caledonia, where it has a wide distribution across Grande Terre. It occurs in shrubland or dense humid forest on ultramafic or volcano-sedimentary substrate up to 950 m asl. Some subpopulations may be impacted by bushfires or mining activities, but globally this species does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 8,486 and 180 km², respectively. Therefore, P. longipetiolata is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


P. longipetiolata is endemic to New Caledonia, where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre, from Goro to Paala.

Population


Population size is unknown.

Habitat


This tree or shrub grows in shrubland and dense humid forest on ultramafic and volcano-sedimentary substrate up to 950 m asl.

Threats


Although some subpopulations may be impacted by bushfires or mining activities, this species does not appear to be threatened.

Conservation


P. longipetiolata is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and occurs in numerous protected areas: Mt. Panié, Aoupinié, Nodéla, Haute Yaté, Pic du Grand Kaori and Forêt Nord natural reserves, as well as the Rivière Bleue and Côte Oubliée provincial parks.
