Acropogon sageniifolius is an endemic small tree of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is found in dense humid forest on a volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitude of 20-700 m asl. This species was the first described Acropogon and it seems that many samples were classified under sageniifolius without taxonomic checks. Waiting for taxonomic clarifications, this species is considered as Data Deficient (DD).

Population


It is found as isolated indivuals.

Habitat


This species is found in dense humid forest on a volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitude of 20-700 m asl.

Threats


Rusa rusa deer (Rusa timorensis) might be a threat.

Conservation


This species was the first described Acropogon and it seems that many samples were classified under sageniifolius without taxonomic checks. It is recommended to bring taxonomic clarifications.
