Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 08/11/2022Celtis conferta Planch. subsp. conferta is a native tree of New Caledonia. It is widely distributed across the Grande Terre as well as in islands (Ile des Pins and Lifou) and nearby islets of the main land. This subspecies occurs in dry forest and maquis on various substrates up to 450 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 54,374 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 284 km², respectively. It is quite common and does not seem threatened. Therefore, this subspecies is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
The subspecies is native to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across the Grande Terre as well as in islands (Ile des Pins and Lifou) and nearby islets of the main land.
Population
The population size is not known. Field observations indicate that the species is quite common.
Habitat
This subspecies occurs in dry forest and maquis on various substrates up to 450 m asl.
Threats
This subspecies does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
Celtis conferta Planch. subsp. conferta is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in four protected areas : Massif du Kouakoué, Parc zoologique et forestier Michel Corbasson, Côte Oubliée, Ile Leprédour.
