Celtis hypoleuca is an endemic species of New Caledonia. It has a large and scattered distribution across the Grande Terre, from Yaté to Canala and from Poya to Kaala-Gomen in the northern east part of the Grande Terre. This species occurs in dense maquis on ferruginous soil up to nearly 900 m high. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is equal to 8,578 km² and its area of occupancy (AOO) equal to 200 km², respectively. It is quite common and does not seem threatened. Therefore, Celtis hypoleuca is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Celtis hypoleuca is endemic to New Caledonia where it has a large and scattered distribution across the Grande Terre, from Yaté to Canala in the south and from Poya to Kaala-Gomen in the northern east part of the Grande Terre.

Population


The population size is not known. Field observations indicate a species quite common.

Habitat


This species occurs in dense maquis up on ferruginous soil to nearly 900 m high.

Threats


This species does not seem to be threatened.

Conservation


Celtis hypoleuca is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in three protected areas : la Dumbéa, Côte Oubliée, Haute Dumbéa.
