Eucarpha deplanchei is an endemic shrub or tree from New Caledonia widely distributed acrross the Grande Terre, from the south to the north west. This species is quite common. It occurs mostly in shrubland as well as in isolated mining massifs and more rareley in mesophilus forest on ultramafic substrates, at an altitude range of 400 and 1,200 m asl. Despite having an Area of Occupancy (AOO) and an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 212 km² and 9,122 km², E. deplanchei does not appear to be threatened at the moment. Therefore, Eucarpha deplanchei is assessed as Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Eucarpha deplanchei is endemic to New Caledonia where it is largely distributed across the Grande Terre.

Population


Population size is not known but the species is quite common in the Grand Massif Sud.

Habitat


Eucarpha deplanchei occurs mostly in shrubland as well as in isolated mining massifs and more rareley in mesophilus forest on ultramafic substrates, at an altitude range of 400 and 1,200 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem threatened although some subpopulations may be impacted by bushfires and mining activities at Kopeto and Koniambo.

Conservation


Eucarpha deplanchei is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in 6 protected areas: Mont Do, Haute Dumbéa, la Dumbéa, Montagne des sources, Mont Mou, Vallée de la Thy.
