Grevillea exul, commonly known as "Brosse à dents commune", is a shrub or tree growing up to 10 m high endemic from New Caledonia. It is widely distributed across the Grande Terre, from the southern limit at Dumbéa-Côte Oublié to the northern part at the limit Poindimié-Voh-Tiebaghi. It occurs in open shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range from 6 to 1,250 m asl. Some subpopulation may be impacted by uncontrolled bushfires and mining activities in the north west and in the south. However Grevillea exul is common and tends to be a pioneer species, resilient to bushfires and other natural disturbances. Therefore with an Area of Occupancy (AOO) and an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 708 and 12,620 km², respectively, Grevillea exul is not thought to approach the requirements for listing as threatened. It is listed as Least Concern (LC).
