Baloghia neocaledonica is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia. This species has a discontinious distribution in Grande Terre between Kouaoua and Port Bouquet in the south-east coast and in the south of Grande Terre at Yaté. It is found in shrubland and gallery forest on an ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 50-350 m asl. The main threats identified are uncontrolled bushfires that contribute to vegetation degradation and mining activities. Known from seven locations, its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) are 40 km² and 1,186 km², respectively. Balogia neocaledonica is therefore assessed as Vulnerable (VU) B1ab(ii,iii,v)+2ab(ii,iii,v) with an estimated decline the concerned sub-criteria

This species is not legally protected and does not occur in any protected area. It is recommended to realise prospections at Côte Oubliée. This species should be included in the regional legislation for a better protection of the species. It is recommended to realise awarness amongs the population.
