Bocquillonia nervosa is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia largely distributed in the north east of Grande Terre, from Mt Aoupinie to Amoss Col. It is quite common and abundant, and occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate, from 400 to 900 m asl. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 1,143 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 76 km², B. nervosa is assessed as Least Concern (LC).

B. nervosa is endemic to New Caledonia where it is largely distributed in the north east of Grande Terre, from Mt. Aoupinie to col d'Amoss.

Population


Population size is unknown but field observations show it is a common species in dense humid forest.

Habitat


B. nervosa occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate, from 400 to 900 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem to be threatened, although some subpopulations may be impacted by fires, Rusa deer (Rusa timorensis) and feral pigs (Sus scrofa).

Conservation


This species is protected by legislation in Province Nord but it does not occur in any protected areas.
