Octarrhena oberonioides is an autochthonous epiphytic orchid of New Caledonia, distributed across Grande Terre (main island) from Mt. Koghi to Amos. O. oberonioides is a species of dense humid forest on ultramafic and volcano-sedimentary substrates. With an area of occupancy and an extent of occurrence equal to 104 and 7,777 km², O. oberonioides is considered Least Concern (LC).

Population size is unknown.

Habitat


O. oberonioides occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic and volcano-sedimentary substrates.

Threats


O. oberonioides does not seem globally threatened but based on field observations, it is a common species.

Conservation


O. oberonioides is protected by legislation in Province Sud and Province Nord and occurs in numerous protected areas : réserve de nature sauvage du Mont Panié, réserve naturelle de la Nodéla, réserve naturelle de la forêt de Saille, réserve naturelle de la Vallée de la Thy, réserve naturelle de la Haute Yaté, réserve intégrale de la Montagne des Sources, réserve naturelle de la Haute Dumbéa, Parc Provincial de la Rivière Bleue.
