Acropogon paagoumenensis is an endemic tree of the north-west part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. This species is known from two sub-populations located on the piémont of Tiébaghi dôme and Babouillat. It is found in shrubland or forest on ultramafic substrate on an altitudinal range 20-95 m asl. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and its extent of occurrence (EOO) are both estimated to 12 km². The threats to this species are linked to habitat loss and fragmentation due to bushfires and riverbanks erosion. An estimation of population highlights a small size of population (fewer than 250 mature individuals per sub-population). Using criteria B and C, A. paagoumenensis does qualify for Endangered (EN) B1ab(iii,v)+2ab(iii,v); C2a(i).

Threats
The threats to this species are linked to habitat loss and fragmentation due to bushfires and riverbanks erosion. We keep in mind that mining activities on Tiébaghi are a very close serious threat, which however does not impact directly the known populations.
Conservation
Protected species by legislation in Province Nord, A. paagoumenensis does not occur in a protected area. Plants of A. paagoumenensis have been planted on the old village of Tiébaghi. The SLN (Société le Nickel) follows this species. It is recommended to carry on ex-situ conservation and to enforce prospections.
