Psychotria calorhamnus is an endemic shrub of the northwest part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from Belep to Koniambo. It is found in shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 20-200 m asl. The main impact identified comes from mining activites, bushfires and increasing urbanisation.Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to 80 and 1,915 km², Psychotria calorhamnus is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii) with a decline of habitat quality and a number of locations close to 10.

Population


It is known from 10-15 subpopulations.

Habitat


Psychotria calorhamnus occurs in shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 20-200 m asl.

Threats


Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activites: Poum (SLN), Ouazangou (NMC);bushfires and increasing urbanisation.

Conservation


Psychotria calorhamnus is unprotected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected area.
