It grows in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate from 300 to 700 m asl. The main threats to this species are bushfires and possibly also invasive species. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are 641 and 48 km², respectively, and the number of locations is estimated to be six. Therefore, P. roseoloba is listed as Near Threatened (NT), close to Vulnerable under criteria B1ab(iii,v)+B2ab(iii,v).
