It occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate from 480 to 970 m asl. Some subpopulations might be impacted by habitat degradation by bushfires or animal invasives (feral pigs), but globally this species does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 1,438 and 72 km², respectively. Therefore, P. glauca is listed as Least Concern (LC).
