Strasburgeria robusta is an endemic small tree of New Caledonia spread in the southern massif of Grande Terre. Strasburgeria robusta occurs in mid to high alttidude forest on ultramafic substrate. This species does not seem directly threatened. This species has a high phylogenetic importance as it is part of the small family Strasburgeriaceae which consists of 2 genera: one monospecific in New-Zealand (Ixerba) and one monospecific in New Caledonia (Strasburgeria). Strasburgeria robusta is considered Least Concern (LC).

Habitat
Strasburgeria robusta occurs in mid to high alttidude forest (300-1,200 m asl) on ultramafic substrate.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Camp des sapins (SLN).
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, this species occurs in several protected areas : Rivière bleue, Montagne des sources, Haute Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, Mont Mou, la Dumbéa, Forêt de Saille, Massif du Kouakoué, Vallée de la Thy This species has a high phylogenetic importance as it is part of the small family Strasburgeriaceae which consists of 2 genera: one monospecific in New-Zealand (Ixerba) and one monospecific in New Caledonia (Strasburgeria).
