Red List Status -
Data Deficient (DD) , assessed in 20/11/2020Pycnandra linearifolia is an endemic shrub to New Caledonia. It is only known from the type collection at the base of the Panié massif. Little information is available on the species distribution, population, habitat and ecology and threats (Swenson et al., 2009). This information should be investigated. Until it is available Pycnandra linearifolia is assessed as Data Deficient (DD). Field surveys are needed to better assess the risk of extinction of a species.

It is recommended to realise field surveys at Tao, Ouaïème and Tanghène area to better evaluate the conservation status for this species. It is also recommended to improve the knowledge of the species (prospections, more herbarium speciemens, taxonomic studies) to confirm its probable taxonomic issues and better estimate its distribution and status.
