Pichonia deplanchei is an endemic tree up to 6 m tall, widespread in Grande Terre in New Caledonia. P. deplanchei occurs in shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 50-400 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Pichonia deplanchei is assigned a preliminary status of Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Pichonia deplanchei is quite common throughout Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from Belep to Ile des Pins.

Population


Population size is unkown.

Habitat


Pichonia deplanchei is found in shrubland on an ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 50-400 m asl.

Threats


Some subpopulations may be threatened by bushfires and mining activities. However, this species does not seem globally threatened.

Conservation


This species is unprotected by legislation. It is recommended to prospect Tontouta area.
