Data Deficient (DD) , assessed in 26/01/2018Syzygium ignambiense is an endemic small tree or tree, which under current taxonomic delimitation, has a discattered distribution in the north east and center of the Grande Terre. From current data, this species is found in dense humid forest on volcano sedimentary substrate at an altitude range of 700 to 1,000 m asl. This species incompletely characterized (Snow, 2016). Therefore, due to a lack of observations and a lack of knowledge, S. ignambiense is considered as Data Deficient (DD) species.
Geographical area
Syzygium ignambiense is endemic to New Caledonia, which under current taxonomic delimitation, has a discattered distribution in the north east and center of the Grande Terre.

Population size is unknown.

Conservation
This species is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in one protected area: Mont Panié. This species remains incompletely characterized (Snow, 2016). Therefore, it is recommended to improve the knowledge of the species (prospections, more herbarium speciemens, taxonomic studies) to confirm its probable taxonomique issues and better estimate its distribution, and status.
