in Northern ProvinceTapeinosperma tchingouense var. tchingouense is an endemic shrub restricted to the massif du Tchingou in northern Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is found in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 800-1,200 m asl. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) both estimated to be of 16 km² and considering the potential minin activities on Massif du Tchingou, Tapeinosperma tchingouense var. tchingouense is assessed as Vulnerable (VU) with criteria D2.

Population size is unknown.
Habitat
It is found in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 800-1,200 m asl.
Threats
Mining activities on Massif du Tchingou constitute a potential threat.
Conservation
Tapeinosperma tchingouense var. tchingouense is protected by legislation in province Nord but it does not occur in any protected areas.
