Plerandra osyana subsp. osyana is an endemic tree of New Caledonia restricted to the southern half of Grande Terre and on the Iles Loyauté and Ile des Pins.With an extent of occurrence of 30,760 km², an area of occupancy (AOO) of 146 km², and over 20 known subpopulations, some of which occur within a protected area (Réserve naturelle du Mont-Mou, Parc des Grandes Fougères, Parc de la Rivière Bleue), Plerandra ossyana subsp. ossyana is assigned a status of Least Concern (LC)

Habitat


Plerandra osyana subsp. osyana is found in dense humid forest on various substrates.

Threats


No particular threat has been identified for the moment.Habitat degradation on the Iles Loyauté due to agriculture is not considered as a threat as long as locals follow traditional practices.

Conservation


Plerandra osyana subsp. osyana occurs in protected areas (Réserve naturelle du Mont-Mou, Parc des Grandes Fougères, Parc de la Rivière Bleue). Dense humid forests are a patrimonial ecosystem protected by the Code de l'Environnement of Province Sud.
