in Northern ProvincePycnandra francii is an endemic tree of New Caledonia largely distributed across in the southern part of Grande Terre from Col de petchicara to Prony. It is found in shrubland or forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 20-800 m asl. This species is largely distributed and does not seem directly threatened. Pycnandra francii is considered Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Pycnandra francii is largely distributed across the southern part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from Col de petchicara to Prony.
Population
This species is quite common.
Habitat
Pycnandra francii is found in shrubland or forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 20-800 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities (Camp des Sapins, Goro) and bushfires.
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, P. francii occurs in six protected areas : Montagne des sources, Pic Ningua, la Dumbéa, Pic du Pin, Barrage de Yaté, Haute Dumbéa.
