Cunonia × koghicola is an endemic tree of the southern part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is found in humid forest at low and mid altitude on volcano-sedimentary substrate. This taxa seems to be hybrid and it is unsure that it is a real species. Therefore, this taxa is considered Data Deficient (DD) for taxonomic reasons. Being an hybrid, this taxa is not submitted to the red list and classified as NE (not évaluated).

Geographical area


This taxa is restricted to the south part of Grande Terre.

Population


The Koghi subpopulation is known of around 10 individuals.

Habitat


It is found in humid forest at low and mid altitude (130-500 m asl) on volcano-sedimentary substrate.

Threats


This taxa is threatened by Nouméa urbanization and the development of touristic activities in the Koghis.

Conservation


This taxa is known in one protected area : Vallée de la Thy. It is recommended to preserve the Koghis subpopulation.
