Although this species has a relatively small extent of occurrence that is below the threshold for Vulnerable, it is known from many localities and despite some threats, is sufficiently widespread and common to be listed as Least Concern.
Geographical area
This species is common in the lower and mid montane maquis vegetation in southern and central New Caledonia. Occurs at 75-1,000 m.
Population
The population is stable and locally common.
Habitat
Occurs in lower and mid-montane maquis vegetation on serpentine rocks. This species is not fire sensitive provided that fires are not too frequent.
Threats
In some places mining and its associated activities might be a threat. Too frequent fires may also limit regeneration.
Conservation
This species is widespread in New Caledonia and occurs in several protected areas.
