Alyxia leucogyne is an endemic robust liana from New Caledonia widely distributed across Grande Terre. It is known from Goro at the far south to the region of Koniambo-Col d'Amoss as well as on Ile des Pins. This species occurs in forest and maquis on non ultramafic and non ultramafic substrates up to 650 m asl. This species is very common and it does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 14,339 km² and a minimum Area of Occupancy (AOO) of 420 km². Therefore Alyxia leucogyne is listed as Least Concerned (LC).
Geographical area
Alyxia leucogyne is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre. It is known from Goro to the region of Koniambo- Col d'Amoss as well as on Ile des Pins.
Population
The population size is not known. Field observations indicate a species that is very common.
Habitat
Alyxia leucogyne occurs in forest and maquis on non ultramafic and non ultramafic substrates up to 650 m asl.
Threats
This species is very common and it does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
This species is protected by legislation in Province Nord and it does occur in numerous protected areas: Parc des Grandes Fougères, Vallée de la Thy, Aoupinié, Chutes de la Madeleine, Côte Oubliée, Forêt cachée, Forêt de Saille, Massif du Kouakoué, Mont Mou, Rivière bleue.
