Alyxia margaretiae is an endemic liana from New Caledonia restricted to the north east of Grande Terre, from Aoupinié to Ouégoa. This species occurs between 50 and 800 m asl. and it is present in forest edges mostly in low elevation areas on volcano-sedimentary substrate. The main threats identified are uncontrolled bushfires on the low elevation subpopulations and invasive species (Rusa deer (Rusa timorensis)) on the habitat quality. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are 1,229 and 56 km², respectively, with a number of locations estimated to be over 10. Therefore, Alyxia margaretiae is listed as Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii,v)+B2ab(iii,v).
Geographical area
Alyxia margaretae is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the north east of Grande Terre, from Aoupinié to Ouégoa.
Population
The population size is not known.
Habitat

Conservation
Alyxia margaretiae is protected by legislation in Province Nord and it does occur in two protected areas : Aoupinié and Mont Panié.
