Corynocarpus dissimilis is an endemic big tree (up to 25 m high) of New Caledonia, widely distributed on Grande Terre as well as occurring on Lifou in the Loyalty Islands. This species is abundant and occurs in dense humid forest and dry forest on various substrates, up to 1,200 m asl. It does not seem to be significantly threatened. Therefore, despite having an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 28,493 km² and a minimum Area of Occupancy (AOO) of 112 km², Corynocarpus dissimilis is assessed as Least Concern (LC).

Corynocarpus dissimilis is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed on Grande Terre as well as occurring on Lifou in the Loyalty Islands.

Population


Population size is unknown but field observations indicate a common species.

Habitat


Corynocarpus dissimilis occurs in dense humid forest and dry forest on various substrate, up to 1,200 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened. However, some subpopulations may be impacted by bushfires and invasive species (feral pigs, Sus scrofa and Rusa deer, Rusa timorensis).

Conservation


Corynocarpus dissimilis is not protected by any legislation in New Caledonia. It does occur in 3 protected areas: Forêt de Saille, Parc des Grandes Fougères, Aoupinié.
