Geissois racemosa is an endemic tree of New Caledonia. It is found in dense humid forest and degraded vegetation on volcano-sedimentary substrate at low and mid altitude. This species is largely distributed and does not seem directly threatened. Geissois racemosa is considered Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Geissois racemosa is widely spread across Ggrande-Terre, from Koutio to Balabio.

Population


This species is known from 12-15 subpopulations.

Habitat


It is found in dense humid forest and degraded vegetation on volcano-sedimentary substrate at low and mid altitude (0-600 m asl).

Threats


This species is largely distributed and does not seem directly threatened.

Conservation


This species is easy to grow in plant nurseries and is used in restoration programmes, as well as in sylviculture. Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in two protected areas : Mont Panié, Aoupinié
