Pancheria brunhesii is an endemic shrub/tree of New Caledonia. It is found mainly in forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate at mid altitude. This species does not seem directly threatened. Pancheria brunhesii is considered Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Pancheria brunhesii is widely spread, although sporadically, across Grande Terre.
Population
Despite its wide distribution, this species is not common.
Habitat
It is found in humid forest (edges and undergrowth), rarely in open crest vegetation, at mid altitude (280-700 m asl) on volcano-sedimentary substrate.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by bushfires and habitat degradation caused by the invasive Rusa rusa deer (Rusa timorensis).

Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in two protected areas : Parc des Grandes Fougères, Vallée de la Thy
