Pichonia dubia is an endemic tree of New Caledonia, that grows up to 35m tall. It is found along the east coast of Grande Terre, as well as Belep and Ile des Pins. Pichonia dubia occurs in humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range of 50-800 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened and is probably more common than the actual distribution as it can become a large tree, rendering collections difficult (Swenson & Munzinger 2012). Pichonia dubia is considered Least Concern (LC).
