Habitat
Plerandra osyana subsp. toto is found in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate.
Threats
Uncontrolled fires sweep across lowlands of New Caledonia each year, especially during the dry season (an average of 20,000 ha of land is burnt each year, with dramatic peaks of 70,000 ha). They contribute to habitat fragmentation and slowly burn the edge of dense humid forest.Some stations of Plerandra osyana subsp. toto may be impacted by fire.
Conservation
Plearandra osyana subsp. toto occurs in protected areas (Réserve de nature sauvage du massif de l'Aoupinié, réserve de nature sauvage du Mont Panié and Parc des Grandes Fougères).Dense humid forests are a patrimonial ecosystem protected by the Code l'Environnement of province Sud.
