Psychotria sp. nov. "virotii" is an endemic shrub, widespread in Grande Terre from Humbolt in the North to Kuébini in the South of New Caledonia. Psychotria sp. nov. "virotii" occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 300-1,200 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Psychotria sp. nov. "virotii" is considered Least Concern (LC).
