in Southern Province , in Northern ProvincePsychotria sp. nov. "jaffrei" is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia, only known from two massifs : Koniambo and Boulinda, in Grande Terre. It occurs in shrubland on ultramafic susbstrate at an altitudinal range 0-700 m asl. Main identified threats are linked to past and on-going mining activities. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) are both equal to 8 km², while the number of locations are estimated to be two. Psychotria sp. nov. "jaffrei" is therefore assessed as Endangered (EN) with criteria B1ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v) with a continuing decline of all concerned sub-criteria.

Psychotria sp. nov. "jaffrei" is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia, only known from two massifs : Koniambo and Boulinda, in Grande Terre.
Population
It is known from two sub-populations : Koniambo and Boulinda.
Habitat
It occurs in shrubland on ultramafic susbstrate at an altitudinal range 0-700 m asl.
Threats
Main identified threats are linked to past mining activities: Boulinda and on-going mining activities: Koniambo (KNS).
Conservation
Psychotria sp. nov. "jaffrei" is unprotected by legislation and it does not occur in any protected area. This species would benefit from ex-situ and in-situ emergency conservation actions. It is proposed to ensure the follow-up of known sub-populations, to preserve a viable population on delimited perimeters on the mining area. Prospections on Boulinda area are urgently needed.
