Psychotria sp. nov. "mcphersonii" is an endemic shrub or small tree, widespread in Grande Terre from Mandjélia in the North to Dogny in the South of New Caledonia. It occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sédimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 400-1,100 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Psychotria sp. nov. "mcphersonii" is considered Least Concern (LC).
