Near Threatened (NT) , assessed in 10/05/2016

Pycnandra montana is an endemic tree of New Caledonia restricted to four locations in Grande Terre: Massif du Kouakoué, Dzumac, Forêt de Saille, Mont Do. It is found in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 800-1,200 m asl. This species does not seem significantly threatened, but bushfires could have an impact. Its area of occupancy (AOO) being estimated to be 24 km², Pycnandra montana is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU D2 because of its small number of subpopulations and narrow AOO, with a threat that could potentially have an impact on the species, but would not be sufficient to drive to CR or EX in a short period of time.
