Grevillea macmillanii, commonly known as "Brosse à dents de Thio, brosse à dents à feuilles étroites", is a shrub endemic from New Caledonia. It is restricted to the area of Thio with an observation at Mt Do in south of Grande Terre. It occurs in scrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitude range from 25 to 600 m asl. Although some subpopulations (at Thio) may be impacted by recurrent bushfires, Grevillea macmillanii is very common and generally tends to be a pioneer species, resilient to uncontrolled bushfires and other natural disturbances. This species is easy to grow in tree nursery and can be used as an ornemental species. Therefore with an Area of Occupancy (AOO) and an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 44 and 437 km², respectively, Grevillea macmillanii is not thought to approach the requirements for listing as threatened. It is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Grevillea macmillanii is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the area of Thio with an observation at Mt Do in south of Grande Terre.

Population

The population size is not known. However field observations indicate that the species is very common.

Threats

Some subpopulation may be impacted by uncontrolled bushfires. However Grevillea macmillanii is very common and generally tends to be a pioneer species, resilient to uncontrolled bushfires and other natural disturbances.

Conservation

Grevillea macmillanii is not protected by legilslation in New Caledonia but it does occur in one protected area : Côte Oubliée. This species is easy to grow in tree nursery and can be used as an ornemental species.
