Porpax karikouyensis is an endemic epiphytic orchid of New Caledonia, widespread in Grande Terre, from Tiébaghi in the north to la Fausse Yaté in the south. Eria karicouyensis occurs in humid forest at an altitudinal range of 200-1,150 m asl. This species does not seem globally threatened. Porpax karikouyensis is considered Least Concern (LC).

Population size is unknown.

Habitat


Porpax karikouyensis occurs in humid forest at an altitudinal range 200-1,150 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Koniambo (KNS), Goro (VALE), Tiebaghi (SLN), Kopeto (SLN).

Conservation


Porpax karikouyensis is protected by legislation in Province Nord and Province Sud and it does occur in six protected areas : Côte Oubliée, Montagne des sources, Pic du grand Kaori, Vallée de la Thy.
