Parsonsia sp. MacKee 30646 is a new species endemic of New Caledonia. It is restricted to the north west of the main land (Grande Terre), from Poya at the southern limit to Taom at its upper limit. This species occurs in maquis on ultramafic substrate at an altitude range of 100-900 m asl. The main threats are uncontrolled bushfires and potentially mining activities at Koniambo. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated to be of 934 km² and 40 km², respectively, with an estimation of five locations. Parsonsia sp. MacKee 30646 is therefore assessed as Vulnerable (VU) with criteria B1ab(ii,iii,v)+2ab(ii,iii,v) with a continuing decline of all the concerned criteria.
