Melodinus polyadenus is an endemic liana endemic of New Caledonia. It has a large a scattered distribution across the Grande Terre: from the southern limit at Mont Nakada to Tiwaka and at Pouébo and Tiébaghi at the northern limit of the distribution. It occurs in gallery forest, dry forest and scrubland on various substrates between 400 and 900 m asl. This species is very common and does not seem threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 5,998 and 112 km², respectively. Therefore, Melodinus polyadenus is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Melodinus polyadenus is endemic to New Caledonia where it has a scattered distribution across the Grande Terre: from the southern limit at Mont Nakada to Tiwaka and at Pouébo and Tiébaghi at the northern limit of the distribution.
Population
The population size is not known. Field observations indicate a species that is very common.
Habitat
Melodinus polyadenus occurs in gallery forest, dry forest and scrubland on various substrates between 400 and 900 m asl.
Threats
This species is very common and does not seem threatened.
Conservation
This species is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in two protected areas : Parc des Grandes Fougères, Aoupinié.
