Phyllanthus dracunculoides is a sub-shrub or shrub of 0.3-2(-4) m high, endemic of New Caledonia and widely distributed across the Grande Terre, from Oui-Poin to Wewec (Hienghène). This species occurs in humid forests along the side of water courses on volcano-sedimentary substrate up to nearly 770 m asl. It has an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 3,089 km² and a minimum Area of Occupancy (AOO) of 72 km², but it does not appear to be significantly threatened at the moment. Therefore, Phyllanthus dracunculoides is assessed as Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area
Phyllanthus dracunculoides is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across the Grande Terre, from Oui-Poin to Wewec (Hienghène).
Population
Population size is unknown.
Habitat
Phyllanthus dracunculoides occurs in humid forests along the side of water courses on volcano-sedimentary substrate up to nearly 770 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
Phyllanthus genus is protected by legislation in Province Nord. Phyllanthus dracunculoides does occur in two protected areas: Aoupinié and Mont Panié.
