Phyllanthus meuieensis is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia, which under current taxonomic delimitation, is only known from Mé Ouié et du Mé Ammér restricted to the centre of the Grande Terre. From current data, Phyllanthus meuieensis may occur in maquis and undergrowth forest. As there are only two available collections and due to the lack of fieldwork the extent of occurrence (EOO) could not be calculated. Due to the general nature of the locality information the level of threat to these particular collection sites are unknown. Further research of this species is needed to be able to understand its conservation needs. Phyllanthus meuieensis is therefore considered Data Deficient (DD).

Phyllanthus genus is protected by legislation in Province Nord. Phyllanthus meuieensis does not occur in any protected area. It is recommended to improve the knowledge of the species (field surveys, more herbarium specimens, taxonomic studies) to confirm its probable taxonomique issues and better estimate its distribution and status.
