Near Threatened (NT) , assessed in 25/06/2020

Phyllanthus moratii is a shrub up to 1 m high, endemic of New Caledonia. It is known from 3 subpopulations restricted in the north of Grande Terre: Goro Até, Tango and Amoa. It seems to mostly occur in summits of humid forests on volcano-sedimentary soils at an altitude range of 200 and 650 m asl. Population size is unknown but field observations indicate a species locally common at Tango on the road to Mt. Grandié. This species does not seem significantly threatened. However some subpopulations may be impacted by invasive species (Rusa Deer, Rusa timorensis) which can contribute to the decline of its habitat quality. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) are respectively estimated to 12 and 12 km² with a low number of locations. Phyllanthus moratii is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii) with an estimated decline in habitat quality.
