Near Threatened (NT) , assessed in 20/08/2020Description
Phyllanthus sarasinii is an endemic species of New Caledonia restricted to the south east of the Grande Terre. It is known from 3 subpopulations : Arago, Nakada and Canala. This taxon occurs in deep dense humid forest undergrowth and in deep forests at an altitude range of 700 and 900 m asl. This species does not seem significantly threatened but Rusa deer (Rusa timorensis) could have an impact in the habitat quality. Its area of occupancy (AOO) being estimated to be 16 km², Phyllanthus sarasinii is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU D2 because of its small number of subpopulations and narrow AOO.
