Phyllanthus valeriae is a shrub of 1-3.5 m high, endemic of New Caledonia and restricted to the north east part of Grande Terre, from Ga Dana (Hienghène) to Mandjélia. It occurs in undergrowth humid forests on volcano-sedimentary substrates up to 800 m asl. This species is common and the regeneration of species is observed. The species does not seem to be threatened. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 510 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 60 km², Phyllanthus valeriae assessed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Phyllanthus valeriae is endemic of New Caledonia where it is restricted to the north east part of Grande Terre, from Ga Dana (Hienghène) to Mandjélia.
Population
Population size in not known but field observations indicate a species common in undergrowth forests.
Habitat
Phyllanthus valeriae occurs in undergrowth humid forests on volcano-sedimentary substrates up to 800 m asl.
Threats
Threats are unknown.
Conservation
Phyllanthus genus is protected by legislation in Province Nord. Phyllanthus valeriae does occur in one protected area: Mont Panié.
