Near Threatened (NT) , assessed in 20/07/2022Eugenia pubiflora is an endemic shrub from New Caledonia where it is restricted to the south of Grande Terre, from Port Boisé at the far south of Grande Terre to Dzumac at the southern limit. This species is found in dense maquis vegetation on ultramafic substrate between 100 and 900 m asl. The main threats impacting this species come from habitat degradation caused by bushfires. Known from a dozen locations, its area of occupation (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) are estimated at 68 and 758 km², respectively. Therefore, Eugenia pubiflora is listed as Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii,v)+2ab(iii,v), with an estimated continuing decline of the concerned sub-criteria.

The population size is not known.

Conservation
Eugenia pubiflora is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in several protected areas : Forêt cachée, Côte Oubliée, Chutes de la Madeleine, Barrage de Yaté, Pic du Pin, Rivière bleue, Montagne des sources, Haute Yaté.
