Notelaea austrocaledonica is an endemic shrub from New Caledonia, where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre. This species also occurs on Yandé island and Ile des Pins. It occurs in shrubland on ultramafic and serpentine substrates up to 1,100 m asl. This species is common and it does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 19,709 and 1,056 km², respectively. Therefore, Notelaea austrocaledonica is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Notelaea austrocaledonica is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre. This species also occurs on Yandé island and Ile des Pins.

Population


Population size is unknown, but field observations indicate that this species is very common.

Habitat


This species occurs in shrubland on ultramafic and serpentine substrates up to 1,100 m asl.

Threats


This species is common and it does not seem to be threatened.

Conservation


Notelaea austrocaledonica is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it occurs in numerous protected areas: Cap N'dua, Côte Oubliée, Haute Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, la Dumbéa, Montagne des sources, Mont Do, Mont Panié, Rivière bleue, Vallée de la Thy, Montagne des sources, Mont Humboldt,Chutes de la Madeleine, Côte Oubliée.
