Dracophyllum verticillatum is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia widespread in Grande Terre (main island). This species is found in shrubland and dense humid forest on ultramafic and volcano-sedimentary rocks up to 1,350 m asl. It is quite common and abundant species and does not directly treathened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are 12,512 and 208 km², respectively. Therefore, D. verticillatum is considered Least Concern (LC).

Population
Population size is unknown but field observations show it is a common species.
Habitat
Dracophyllum verticillatum is found in shrubland and dense humid forest on ultramafic and volcano-sedimentary substrates at an altitude range of 40-1,350 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened but some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Koniambo (KNS), Goro (VALE), Nakéty (SMT).
Conservation
Dracophyllum verticillatum is protected by legislation in province Nord. This species is found in numerous protected areas: Mt Humbolt, Chute de la Madeleine, Forêt cachée, Massif de Kouakoue.
