Description

Exoperidium: greyish cream with a pink tinge; breaking in to 5 - 7 rays, somewhat recurved and trapping debris; 25 - 150 mm diameter.

Stipe: cylindrical, 1 - 2 × 0.5 - 1 mm.

Endoperidium: globose; 15 - 55 mm; glabrous; pale cream with a pink tinge or greyish becoming brown with age.

Peristome: fimbriate, silver grey, dark grey; well delineated.

Flesh: thick.

Spore print: brown ochraceous.

Spores:

Notes: this earthstar is recognised robust size, pinkish tinge when young and silver grey fibres around the peristome. Some mycologists consider that this is the same as G. triplex but lacking the intermediate collar between the exoperidium and the endoperidium.
