Description
Exoperidium: breaking in to 6 - 10 rays, strongly recurved; 40 - 80 mm diameter; rays glabrous pinkish white when fresh.
Stipe: absent.
Endoperidium: globose; 20 - 40 mm; velutinate, matt; grey.
Peristome: small, raised, plicate (pleated); pleats are grey; on white to pale grey disc with a unclearly defined edge.
Flesh: medium.
Spore print: brown ochraceous.

Notes: this earthstar is recognised by its pale pinkish white coloured rays, sessile grey velutinate endoperidium with an apical pale disc in the centre of which is a small plicate peristome. This looks to be close to G. velutinum which is known to be a species complex.
