Description
Exoperidium: buff to off white; breaking in to 4 - 10 rays, recurved; not trapping debris; 30 - 80 mm diameter; rays warty, pinkish to greyish brown when fresh.
Stipe: absent; attached by a rhizomorph.
Endoperidium: ovoid; sessile; 25 - 40 mm; scurfy, warty, shiny reflective; silvery grey.
Peristome: raised, fibrous; concolorous with endoperidium or slightly darker.
Flesh: thick.
Spore print: brown ochraceous.

Notes: this earthstar is recognised by its relative large size, shiny silver grey and sessile endoperidium and pinkish brown rays. Appears to be common in calcareous areas.
