Description

Pileus: convex; 15 - 40 mm diameter; squarrose imbricate scales; dark brown with scales paler; margin appendiculate.
Stipe: cylindrical; 30 - 60 × 5 - 6 mm; scurfy pruinose; whitish granules on pale brown surface.
Gills: adnexed to almost free; moderately crowded; cream becoming pale brown; with lamellulae in one series.
Smell: not recorded.
Spore print: brown.
Spores: not recorded.
Notes: this Inocybe is reminiscent of Horak’s Inocybe strobilomyces from New Zealand, but there are other squarrose species in Australia that are still ill defined.Microscopic details needed.
